The blacklight project came from the prompt to create an alphabet, and my eternal love for typography and lettering. I have always created lettering by hand, both drawn and painted, and this project came to me as I wanted to create type in bright bold colors that could be used for flyers or other artistic purposes. I used 4 main colors, orange, green, pink, and yellow in high visibility cardstock. This allowed me to play with the physical layering of paper, and use an exacto to create designs and motifs that could make this move beyond a static letterform. After creating all of the lettering, I used it to spell out some of the iconic San Francisco music venues that I grew up and still attend to see music played.
